How do you fit oak worktops?
Last Updated on January 27, 2021
Oak is the quintessential British wood that is always very popular. We at the House of Worktops provide several versions of oak worktops, but they are delivered and fitted all the same way, by our in-house, two-man delivery and fitting team.
We have always taken customer experiences and satisfaction very seriously. It was that which allowed a small family business to grow into what House of Worktops has become, the UK’s only end to end wooden worktop provider. It was the deep concern that due to issues with a third party supplier, we would potentially let down our loyal customers. So we endeavoured to use as few third parties as possible. Vertically interacting the business until we could proudly say that we log, measure, join and deliver to your door, all of our products.
The kitchen oak worktop requires fitting on delivery, and although we are happy to deliver and leave the rest up to you (as is normally the case with large business to business orders), naturally we provide fitting to all our retail customers in our delivery range; England, Scotland and Wales excluding highlands and islands.
The oak we provide is, therefore, ours and we stand by our craftsmanship. The options between full or part stave in an oak worktop is very dependent on the overall kitchen design you are aiming for. A minimalist look using the grain as a feature, or the farmhouse warmth from assembling the most wavy or knotted wood. Either way, we can provide those options or a mix between the two, to fit your requirements from our stockpile of woods in our drying warehouse.
Different oak types we offer
There are a few options which are so popular that they have become standard orders. The traditional standard oak, unstained with short tilled staves and a mix of grains is the mainstay, instantly recognisable as oak with all the associated craftsmanship and qualities.
Prime oak is used heavily in minimalist designs; its formality with full-length slender staves and the straight, almost uniform, grain makes it popular in modern office space and designer coffee shops. If you’re looking for a work surface that will fade into the background or not distract from a focal point, this is your best option.
A deluxe oak/deluxe rustic oak worktop whose pattern uses much wider full-length staves allows each one to be their own little canvas. These striking pieces usually find themselves in the family home, as the centre of the kitchen and in the heart of family life, with their distinctive, hardy aesthetic bringing warmth to the room.
Your choice
However, each of these patterns is little more than a serving suggestion or a jumping-off point for you to direct the construction of a truly unique piece of furniture which, with a little care, can easily last a lifetime.
We can give you more information on your options for stave lengths, designs, as well as quotes if you contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.
