A symbolic presence with an oak worktop
Last Updated on March 2, 2021
We are lucky to have the mighty oak present in our forests and as a sign of longevity, strength and protection. It is no wonder that so many of us want to enjoy the presence of such beauty in the comfort of our own homes.
Thankfully, this desire can become a reality with your very own oak worktop. Because your oak worktop is created from material that is sourced sustainably and locally or within areas of Bulgaria that we work hard to preserve, you can confidently embark on this journey towards obtaining your very own oak worktop with ethical practices in mind. We pride ourselves in being a zero-waste company, meaning that any offcuts or unusable material from the trees that we harvest are used elsewhere during production.
We often choose Bulgarian oak because the regions in which it is grown lead to creating particularly strong and characterful oak. Due to high stress from hot summers and cold winters, the timber exhibits more prominent patterns and grains, sporting the very distinctive golden hues that are well associated with any oak product.
Furthermore, Bulgarian oak is some 30% harder than other oak varieties present in America or Europe, meaning that you can be assured of a quality finished product that can last for decades of carefree and persistent use.
Types of oak benches that we can offer
Being one of the more popular timbers that we can offer you, we have devised a variety of different types of oak worktops that we hope can offer you a more select choice, to ensure you receive exactly what you’re after. Oak is a material that can vary hugely and can appeal to many different individuals looking for unique looks.
If you’re attracted to oak worktops for their uniformity and linear grains, revealing the lack of flaws and sophisticated appearance, then one of our prime oak options would be best suited to you.
Should deeper knots and a more varied pattern be more appealing to you, invoking thoughts of a natural setting that suits a rural, warm kitchen in a home, then perhaps the rustic oak choice will suit your needs.
In addition to the style of grain and pattern that we can find in every tree that we harvest, you can also choose the style of construction when choosing the popular oak worktop. There is a standard or deluxe finger jointed construction, varying in size and giving you a variety of different panels of oak in each stave. This style of construction means that you can enjoy many different grains and patterns all in the one worktop, allowing you to always see something new and beautiful when you look at your kitchen surfaces.
If uniformity is more appealing to you, we do offer full stave worktops which run the entire length of your bench, without any finger jointed construction. The grains are mindfully kept in the same direction so that the finished product always looks neat and well finished.
