Yes, absolutely. We can cut any worktop to
your exact measurements and customise it to your needs.
You have three ways to get this done:
Option 1: Use our Custom Worktop Builder at
houseofworktops.co.uk/custom-worktop-builder. Choose your worktop, pick your
standard size, and customise from there.
Option 2: Contact us through live chat or email and tell us exactly what you
need. We just need your name, email, delivery address, which worktop you like,
and the dimensions.
Option 3: Email our sales team at [email protected] and they will
handle everything from there.
The cut-to-size service is charged per cut. The first cut is £17.95 and every
consecutive cut after that is £12.50.
Yes. Sink cutouts and hob cutouts are part
of our customisation service and we do them on CNC machinery, so the finish is
precise and clean.
Here is how it works: when you place your bespoke order, we take your sink and
hob dimensions. Your sink manufacturer should provide a cutout template, and
your hob will have one too. We then send you a CAD drawing showing exactly
where the cutouts will be positioned. You approve it before we cut anything.
For undermount sinks specifically, the exposed edge inside the cutout is sanded
and polished so it looks completely professional.
Yes. Drainage grooves are part of our
customisation service and we do them on a CNC machine, so the result is precise
and clean.
For compact laminate, the core is completely solid and waterproof running
through the entire thickness, so we can machine grooves directly into the
surface without any risk to the material. The exposed core inside the grooves
is simply sanded and polished.
You can specify the position and layout when you submit your order. If you use
our Custom Worktop Builder you can add them there, or just tell us what you
need and we will include it in your quote.
Please note: drainage grooves are not available on chipboard laminate worktops
as this would cut through the decorative surface and expose the
moisture-sensitive core.
Yes. For compact laminate, the material is
dense enough to support overhangs up to 250mm without any framing or brackets
underneath. It holds its own weight comfortably at that distance.
For anything over 250mm, say 300mm or 400mm for deeper bar stools, we recommend
adding steel L-brackets underneath. They are simple, inexpensive, and
completely hidden. They allow you to go up to 400mm overhang with no issues at
all.
For wooden worktops, the same 250mm guideline applies for unsupported
overhangs. If you need to go further, we can add Steel T-Bar Reinforcements
engraved into the underside of the worktop. These provide structural rigidity
and allow for larger overhangs without visible brackets.
We cut your worktops based on the
measurements you provide. We do not offer templating or measuring on-site
ourselves. However, this is standard practice in the industry and thousands of
customers measure successfully every year.
For bespoke orders with cutouts, we make it safer: once you place your order,
we create a detailed CAD drawing based on your dimensions and send it to you
for approval before we make a single cut. You check it, sign off on it, and
only then do we cut. That approval step protects you.
If you are not confident measuring yourself, we can recommend trusted fitters
in your area who can measure and install. Just share your postcode and we will
check who is available near you.
Yes, absolutely. When you buy a standard worktop and we cut it to size, all the pieces and offcuts belong to you. When we deliver your main cut-to-size worktop, we also deliver all the offcuts.
We have a step-by-step guide that explains
exactly how to measure a radius corner. You can find it here:
houseofworktops.co.uk/blog/how-to-measure-a-radius-corner-easily/
If you need any help after reading the guide, just get in touch and we will
walk you through it.
For bespoke orders with sink cutouts, we
never cut until you have approved the CAD drawing. You place your order first,
then we contact you to confirm all the cutout dimensions before anything is
made. So you have time to confirm your sink model and exact positioning.
The only thing we need from you is your sink manufacturer’s cutout sizes, which
should come with the sink or be available on the manufacturer’s website.
For compact laminate, our minimum edge distance is 100mm from the front edge of
the worktop to the start of the cutout. This protects the structural integrity
of the overhang.
We have a full guide on how to measure the location of a sink or hob cutout
here:

Yes, absolutely. This used to only be
possible with quartz or stone, but compact laminate changed that. Because the
entire core is solid and 100% waterproof from top to bottom, we can cut a
perfectly clean undermount sink opening and machine drainage grooves directly
into the surface.
The exposed edge of the cutout is simply sanded and polished. It looks
completely professional.
Please note: undermount sinks are not possible with chipboard laminate
worktops. If you want an undermount sink, compact laminate or solid surface is
the way to go.
